Use of online applications for learning

“Teaching in the Internet age means we must teach tomorrow’s skills today.” – Jennifer Fleming

Over the past few decades, influence of technology upon children and education has been immense. Education was once equated with money, but things have changed. Great education for your children is no more a dream. It’s affordable. Even average families can afford a mobile phone in which applications can be downloaded.

While there are a lot of applications available at the app store, choosing the right one for your child can change the way they look at the process of learning. Educational apps are making things easier for children to understand. Books are often found to be tiring and boring for children while replacing them with colourful pages and moving animations can make learning fun to the core (EdSys,2017).

Online applications that can be used for learning :

1.  Clever

What it is: Clever streamlines the process of logging into educational apps by letting students log into all of their tools with a single set of credentials (instead of dozens).
Who would love it: K–12 teachers and students, although students cannot access it unless their school registers with Clever. It connects applications with the Student Information Systems (SIS) already in place for schools and districts.
Why it’s good: Clever saves time in the classroom. The company claims that the average teacher spends 15 minutes logging in students for every 50 minutes in the computer lab.

What it is: StudyBlue is a popular online studying platform. It boasts a gigantic library of user-created flashcards and study guides.
Who would love it: Middle school and high school students.
Why it's good: The site’s nearly seven million users store and share class materials, flashcards, and practice quizzes. The free version of StudyBlue gives you access to suggested flashcards within particular interest sets, whereas the paid version gives you access to all of the decks in the library (more than 275 million of them).

MULTIMEDIA, INTERACTIVE ELEMENT AND HOW TO EVALUATE MULTIMEDIA

What is Multimedia?
-A product that uses a combination of images, words and sounds to present information.
IMAGES WITH TEXTS

Multimedia is now commonplace and can be used for a variety of reasons, including:
•e-learning purposes (education)
•entertainment
•promotional and advertising purposes
•e-publications
•modelling and simulation
•public information

What is interactive elements?
Interactive elements in your Web site include such features as contact forms, appointment calendars, chat rooms, discussion forums (also called message boards), and order forms. At the simplest level, an interactive form can be used to collect information—for example, the visitor's name, email address, and topic of interest—and then mail that information to you automatically. At the most complex level, interactive elements such as online payment processing and shopping carts can handle some of the most demanding needs your customers may have.

How to evaluate multimedia materials?

Interactive in Web Form
Evaluation instrument is  a  tool to support evaluation of  multimedia  learning resources.  It  is designed for eliciting  ratings  and  it  can  be available  as both  a digital  form (web form, software)
and  printable  document (grid, questionnaire, etc).

Printable materials
The structure of the instrument that we propose to
use to evaluate the quality of digital learning resources is designed to easy use. It is developed using specific vocabulary to avoid multiple interpretations. The  specific  criteria  included  in this  structure  are  grouped  under  four  main  headings  : pedagogical  quality aspect, didactic quality aspect, technical quality aspect and academic quality aspect. The criteria are intended to encourage evaluators to think critically about the resource and evaluate some of its more detailed aspects. The criteria are not listed in order of importance, which will                                                              vary according to the resource and its intended use.

Conclusions
Technology element such as the multimedia is something that we access when we start our computer or even hand phone every day to transmit information via virtual realm to other people. Most likely nowadays the multimedia are interactive to use such as the online banking, social media and filling out the online survey. On the other hand, non-interactive multimedia is usually kept for personal use for the user to modify, adding or deleting things from the multimedia. In addition, the evaluation of multimedia can be consist of printable materials and web form applications.

4. Ocenaudio

Another powerful free audio editor, but easier to master than Audacity
Like Audacity, Ocenaudio is available for multiple platforms (Windows, Linux and Mac). While not bursting with features, it's a great tool for everyday audio editing. Real-time effect previewing should help to speed up your work as there's no need to apply a change just to try it out, and a highly precise selection tool makes it easy to apply the same effect to multiple sections of a file.
You can use Ocenaudio work with locally stored files, or even open those hosted online. The audio editor's somewhat sparse interface quickly becomes a joy to use, and if you spend a little time familiarizing yourself with the keyboard shortcuts, you should fly through common tasks in no time.
Ocenaudio offers good range of effects, with more available as plugins, and there's even the option of exporting your creations as a ringtone for your iPhone.
